50 Cans!

Hello, my incredibly powerful world changers!

Today I wanted to share with you another awesome campaign started by the amazing nonprofit Do Something

With this campaign they are reaching out to people all over the globe to hold a drive or just collect 50 soda cans, take a picture, and recycle them.
This campaign began with a bit of research showing aluminum cans are the only widely used substance in the world that can be entirely recycled and made into new things. This is great, only many soda drinkers just toss their cans in the trash or on the ground when they're done.

Aluminum cans can be recycled over and over indefinitely, so that soda companies would never have to create another can out of raw materials!

This campaign runs until December 12, 2013 with hardly any effort at all. Not only is it easy, but Do Something is also offering a great incentive. For everyone 50 cans recycled, you are entered to win a $4,000 scholarship!

Collect the cans, take a pic, and win cash for school. Could it get any better?

I finished my first 50 on 11/20/2013

If you collect 50 cans (or more!) Let me know! Put your picture in the comment below I want to see your hard work pay off! (and how creative you can get with some old cans :) )

Or if you would like to mail me some empty soda cans shoot me an email! (elfinadventure@gmail.com)

Lettuce change the world one fizzy drink at a time!

Cheers.

Gypsy Soul

Fantasy is Necessary

Ascended By Debra Ann Miller, Fallen Guardians Saga #2 Book Review

Greetings,

This post is insanely and incredibly long overdue and I apologize for my absence, But please allow me to explain why through a lovely story by the fire...

It all began a few days ago. I had just finished reading and loving Descended when all of a sudden the book came to an end. I was devastated, crushed, heart broken. How could such an amazing story have such a quick end! (Oh do I wish for a land where books are thousands of pages that you can never reach the end of)

All of a sudden a lovely angel in the form of my mother shone like the golden rays of sunshine and smelled of sweet daisies, and presented to me her Kindle with the second book in the Fallen Guardians Saga: Ascended.

I dropped to my knees and worshiped the mighty book gods that allowed this piece of written beauty to come into existence and began to read immediately.

That my friends is why this post was delayed.

You see, after feeling the first book to be spectacular I was entirely unaware at the many twists and turns and emotions to be had in the Ascended. I could not stop reading to even make a cup of tea out of fear the glorious pages before me would somehow become just a dream.

At midnight, I finally saw the last page. (after spending the previous hour crying so hard I could barely read the words) I have then discovered the beauty of a book 3 soon to be released.

If +Debra has any pity at all, she shall grace us with as much beauty as before.

But onto the actual book review which is why you are reading this post I presume (my jokes aren't THAT funny)

This book began and immediately swept me into a vast whirlpool of diligent reading as to not miss a single word. I was sucked into the amazing events surrounding Vie, Vivian, Gabe, and Carter and could not emerge for air. I was utterly aghast at the events to come  I could not believe someone could write a story with so much depth there was a twist around every corner.

One of the main reasons these books (especially this one) really spoke to my soul was it's ability to combine Christian beliefs with Native American myth and legend. This is something I have done throughout my religious journey, and have never found another soul to embrace it as much as these teens have done. Every bit of spiritual matter was spoken in such a way it was directed to fulfill my longing for a companion among my path of discovery. I have never known such a work where I could truly believe it was written directly for me. It has inspired me so very much to follow every bit of my heart for love truly can concur any hardships thrown, and to trust in the root of all good for their is power in believing.

This book series has completely blown my mind in such a great way I didn't want to pick up the pieces in order to write this as I know I could never do it justice.

As always my friends, Don't be afraid to get lost in a good book, as you can always spend the next hour, or week, recovery from the journey.

Cheers.

Descended By: Debra Ann Miller, Fallen Guardians Saga #1: Book Review Part 2

11/14/13
Hello, and welcome back to my continuing book review of Descended. As I said before I am writing this as I read in order to not miss a single detail, enjoy!

As I began Chapter 10, I couldn't help to realize the contrast between the Dark Lord and the community of Guardians. It is a perfect Yin Yang balance of good and evil that has existed longer than humanity itself. As Newton once said, "for every action there is an equal but opposite reaction." Now taking this out of the field of physics and into the minds of the metaphorical scales of good and evil it makes perfect sense for there to be a Dark Lord and for the two groups to be in eternal combat...I love it.

Plot twist....I wont say more I don't want to give away too much and ruin the secrets for future readers!
But this is seriously a great book..read it.
I love the both females have a special gift of expression, while completely different it is as if each one can connect to the other through the gifts they are given.

Another one of my favorite qualities of this book is the perfect scenery descriptions. Now I have never been to Wyoming, but from reading the text I can perfectly see the rolling black hills and the widespread plains. Even something as simple as a log on a river is perfectly described for the reader to see, as if he or she was experiencing it themselves. I adore this quality, many books don't offer enough detail to make a full picture, or give too much detail that becomes repetitive and boring to read. This offers the perfect balance though as the reader is swept off their feet and into the world of the novel.

I love the immense descriptions of love in this story. You can completely feel the force of the love between the characters. It is such an incredible power, one we all wish to experience. The true energy of both friendship and soul mates creates such an unbreakable bond I could only wish to experience in this world.

There is so much action in this story line, but also just enough romance to make your heart glow. It isn't sappy by any means (as I am not one for chick flicks or romance novels) but the true untamed spirit of adventure and wild passion is completely exhilarating and infectious.

Truly one of the best books I've ever read. '

As always my lovelies, stay impassioned, for that will only lead to all your dreams coming true.
Cheers.

Save the Arctic: A Greenpeace Campaign

Today, I bring you another activist cause that was recently brought to my attention by another blogger +Ryan Flynn I will link his page below:

The bit the caught my immediate attention was the section on the Save the Arctic campaign. I, being a true advocate for the development of green energies and very much so against oil drilling due to the detrimental effects on the surrounding ecosystem and atmosphere as a whole, jumped on the opportunity to sign a petition to prevent the drilling of oil wells in the Arctic circle to save the melting waters from extinction.

The Greenpeace organization is proposing to turn the areas around the North Pole into a global sanctuary:

Now, in order to help with this campaign, all you have to do is sign your name to a petition to prevent the oil drilling from happening.
As of today, 3,993,619 people have signed on to the petition (myself included) and I would love to help this organization reach their target of 5,000,000 signers.

For more information on this project and to sign the petition please visit: http://www.savethearctic.org/

If you have signed the petition or otherwise shown your support for this initiative please comment below to share your good deeds on the blogasphere!

As always my darlings, remember the fate of Santa Claus.

Cheers.
